Swarming can be a real headache for beekeepers. Pheromones can be used to increase the likelihood of capturing swarms of bees from local hives and the surrounding area in an empty hive. Synthetic pheromones are a copy of naturally secreted pheromones. Sold in packs of 5 tubes.

Description

Setting up beehives: Use an empty beehive, preferably one that has already been used and has at least one old frame. The hive must have an entrance at the bottom. Attach the SwarmCatcher lure with a thumbtack to one of the frames closest to the entrance. (There is a loop at the top of the lure.) Do not open or pierce the tube! The pheromone will diffuse naturally through the tube wall. Things to consider during implementation: Place the hive approximately 1 to 3 meters above the ground. Ensure the location is shaded to promote hive ventilation. Hives exposed to direct sunlight may be abandoned due to overheating. Hives with a south-facing entrance are more likely to be occupied by a swarm. Ensure the hive is dry and free of insects.
